Orthopaedic Hand, Upper Extremity & Microvascular Surgeon

Dr. John Phillip Dupaix is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty certification in Surgery of the Hand, specializing in the comprehensive care of hand and upper extremity conditions. He is a partner at Hand, Microsurgery and Reconstructive Orthopaedics in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he maintains a high-volume clinical and surgical practice focused on both routine and complex disorders of the upper limb.

Dr. Dupaix’s clinical expertise includes hand and wrist surgery, upper extremity trauma, peripheral nerve surgery, and microsurgical reconstruction. His practice encompasses a broad spectrum of conditions, including fractures, tendon and ligament injuries, nerve compression syndromes, arthritis, and complex reconstructive problems. He has particular experience in nerve decompression and repair, tendon reconstruction, and microvascular techniques for soft tissue coverage and limb salvage.

He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Hawaii, followed by fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at UPMC Hamot. During his training, he was actively involved in research and academic medicine, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national orthopaedic meetings.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Dupaix is actively engaged in surgical education. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Pittsburgh, where he trains orthopaedic residents and hand surgery fellows in both operative and clinical settings. His teaching focuses on advanced surgical techniques, upper extremity trauma, and microsurgical reconstruction.

Dr. Dupaix is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a subspecialty certificate in Surgery of the Hand. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of both the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Association for Hand Surgery.

He is committed to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care and works closely with referring providers, therapists, and patients to optimize outcomes and restore function.
